Spring Has Sprung

Spring Has Sprung

Outdoor activities to enjoy with your four-legged friend

Now that spring has finally sprung it’s the perfect time to start making the most of the longer days and getting outside to enjoy the sunshine with your four-legged friend.

Whether it’s a picnic, exploring somewhere new to walk, going to a dog-friendly event or booking a dog-friendly break away, here are some outdoor activities for you to enjoy with your dog now that the sun has (hopefully) got its hat on!

1. Explore Some Dog-Friendly Walks

We obviously walk our dogs all year round, but often over winter the walks get shorter, so spring is the perfect time to get out and about and explore some new dog-friendly walks!

Walking is great for your pooch, as it can be a lower-impact way for them to exercise regularly. We always recommend taking some treats with you as firstly, we’re big fans of training on the go (check out our blog on this) and secondly, our low-calorie Caboodle treats are a great way to keep your dog full of energy for their walk without overfeeding them.

Have a look at our blog for our recommendations on some of the best places in the UK to walk your dog and don’t forget to check out the huge number of dog-friendly sites that the National Trust and English Heritage have to offer.

2. Engage in Outdoor Games

Spring is the perfect time of year to engage in interactive outdoor games that will keep your dog active and entertained. Play fetch with a frisbee or tennis ball in the park, set up an agility course in your back garden, or simply enjoy a spirited game of tug-of-war. These activities strengthen the bond between you and your dog while providing essential exercise.

3. Attend Dog-Friendly Events

Keep an eye out for local dog-friendly events happening in your community during the spring months. From breed-specific meetups, outdoor markets and dog-friendly festivals, these events are fantastic opportunities for your dog to socialise and for you to connect with fellow pet parents.

Take a look at The Dogvine for a full calendar of dog-friendly events in and around London.

4. Pack a Picnic!

Everyone loves a picnic, especially dogs! They’re the perfect way to enjoy the Spring sunshine and each other's company. Our Caboodle grab-and-go daily trays and twin packs are perfect for a picnic as they contain everything your dog needs for the day, already measured out for you! So there’s no need to worry about measuring out kibble or smelly treats exploding in your pockets! You can relax and enjoy the sunshine with your four-legged friend by your side.

5. Book a Dog-Friendly Break Away

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to venture a bit further than your local park, then why don’t you book a dog-friendly break away? Our friends at PetsPyjamas have over 18,000 carefully curated dog-friendly hotels and self-catered properties to choose from. Dogs always stay free (hooray!) and many of their hotels have exclusive offers that you won’t find anywhere else.

Above all, HAVE FUN! Cherish the quality time spent bonding with your dog during the lighter, longer days.
